Bremerton Armed Forces Day Parade 2019

We were very honored to be a part of the Armed Forces Day celebration this year. This was our first time in a while doing an event booth, and we were very pleased with the interaction from the community. Not only did we get to meet some amazing people and spread the message about our mission as they stopped by our booth, but we especially honored to be asked to be a part of the National Alliance Alliance to End Veteran Suicide’s Memorial Flag March. It was a somber privilege to carry their memorial flag through the streets of downtown Bremerton during the parade. This 20x30’ flag honors all of our brothers and sisters that have been lost to suicide and we fly it in their memory. The flag was carried by members of the NA2EVS, active duty soldiers from JBLM, LRS, and other volunteers. It was a humbling to be able to carry it through the streets of downtown.

It was truly awesome to see all the military organizations and vehicles, school bands, car clubs, and other organizations march through downtown showing their support for our nation’s armed forces. Bremerton’s Armed Forces Day parade is the oldest in the nation and it was awesome to see the overwhelming support that this small military town has for it’s service members.

During the parade we had the opportunity to meet community members and other veteran organizations and discuss how we positively impact veterans and help provide a growing community of support.

After the parade we were lucky enough to be invited by Dog Days Brewery to be part of the Block Party hosted by Bremerton’s newest veteran owned business, the Axe and Arrow Gastro Pub which was founded by a Fireman Captain and two Army Special Forces members. We relocated our booth and setup right there inside the beer garden with Dog Days Brewery to enjoy the party and meet some more people. We met a lot of great people and had the opportunity to show them what the average pack feels like during one of our expeditions (shown below).

We are proud to honor our fellow Armed Forces members and very grateful to Jeff, a fellow veteran and owner of Dog Days Brewery for having us at the block party, Tom one of the Co-owners of Axe and Arrow for being such a gracious host, and to everyone that stopped by to talk to us!

Thank you again to all of our volunteers that came to help with the booth, as well as everyone that stopped by the booth to support us! We couldn’t forget Jeff from Dog Days Brewery for being such an awesome supporter as well. It was a great day supporting all Armed Forces members!
